First Lady, scheduled to appear on Oprah today, salutes America’s military families

Can it be true, two of my favorite people on screen at the same time? As an avid watcher of "The Oprah Winfrey Show," I, like many Oprah fanatics, am sad to see the program come to an end at the end of this year. But it seems as though Oprah has saved some of the best material for season 25, including today's guest First Lady, Michelle Obama.

Appearing as a guest on the talk show Thursday, Jan. 27, Mrs. Obama shares her advocacy for military families and honors the sacrifices these families make on a daily basis. This coming just three days after President Obama announced new government wide initiatives to support military families, including programs aimed to prevent suicide and eliminate homelessness.

After ordering every department of the federal government to make assistance to military families a priority, President Obama made it so that government agencies will now coordinate on ways to improve physical and psychological health, ensure excellence in military children’s education as well as develop career opportunities for military spouses.

Unfortunately, since I’m scheduled to work at my internship until 5 p.m., I will have to miss out on watching the interview right at 4 p.m., but you better believe that I scheduled my DRV to tape it.
