Bush declines Obama's invite to NYC's Ground Zero event

Nearly 10 years ago, in the days following the September 11 terror attacks, President George W. Bush climbed at fire truck and shouted to those gathered at ground zero, "I can hear you. The rest of the world hears you. And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon." The al-Qaida orchestrated attack killing 3,000 people, occurred in the early months of Bush's presidency in 2001. Now the former president is singing a song of a different tune. According to a spokesman, Bush declined an invitation from President Barack Obama to attend a somber remembrance Thursday at New York's ground zero. The observance occurs in the aftermath of the U.S. Navy SEALs special forces raid that killed al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden. According to wife Laura Bush, Bush's decision is consistent with his desire to keep a low profile.
