“There are always going to be bumps on the road to recovery. We’re going to pass through some rough terrain that even a Wrangler would have a hard time with. You know that”
A cascade of boos followed. Not a smart thing to say, Baracky, especially at a Wrangler plant...
But it goes deeper. The Jeep Wrangler has become, in its own way, a symbol of American freedom. A relatively inexpensive car (starting around $20K), anyone can pull the ragtop off, hit the road with the wind and sun in their hair, and essentially travel anywhere across the country - regardless of terrain, weather, or accessibility. A Jeep makes you free. Which is why it still sells quite well, despite consistently declining workmanship and reliability (thanks, UAW!).
Deep inside, I believe Obama resents the Wrangler. It doesn't come in a hybrid form, picks up barely 20 miles to the gallon, and it gives people unlimited movement around the country.
Socialists don't like unlimited movement. That's why they tend to build walls around their nations, and shoot folks who try to leave without government permission...(and perhaps explains why they love centralized populations and bullet trains so).
Tell you this, pal - if you talk smack on my Jeep (Liberty, 2003 Renegade edition), you best be ready to back up your words...
