Scratch a union striker and you'll find a thug, a man not smart enough to lead, but physically strong enough and morally weak enough to act as enforcers for the fascist liberal state. The Democrat's new "Brownshirts"?
The behavior of the striking Verizon workers has moved beyond the pale, as the company is apparently in no rush to cave to the union. Instapundit links to a report on strikers picketing a senior citizen who needed a landline repaired:
A Quincy mom has disconnected her support for striking Verizon workers yesterday after a group of mouthy picketers surrounded non-union repairmen and turned a phone-line fix at her home into what she is calling a “ridiculous” protest scene.
“I looked in the street and there are picketers, 10 of them or more, doing a circle around the Verizon truck,” said Karen Austin, 64, a mother of five who lives on Forest Avenue. “Every time (the repairmen) would walk up to my house they would follow them. I couldn’t believe my eyes. This is ridiculous. Why are they picketing my house?"
Because you are an old lady, not a younger fellow with a shotgun. And when they are not harrassing the elderly, they are using little girls as human shields:
Remember Sting's empty little anti-war ditty, Russians? With one word changed below:
Believe me when I say to you
I hope the unions love their children too
We share the same biology
Regardless of ideology....
Actually, I'd prefer not to think I share the same biology as these pathetic union terrorists. Human nature - shoot, even animal nature - is for an adult to protect a child even at the expense of their own lives. How warped is the liberal/union ideology that its adherents are willing to allow, even actively encourage, the deaths of their children so that they may "get theirs" for a few more years?
And since we share neither the same biology or ideology, I have no problem seeing the scourge of unionism wiped off the face of the nation. Public sector or private sector, it apparently doesn't matter- both faces are ugly, and a threat the the safety of the nation...
Final irony - these guys are land-line workers? They'll be lucky to have jobs in five years, perhaps they should be doing everything they can to make themselves, you know, affordable and necessary?
To paraphrase this little witticism I came across at NRO's Media Blog:
“Oh, I’m sorry. The next available time for me to give a sh*t about the "plight of the unions" is next Tuesday, between the hours of 12-5. Does that work for you? No? Oh, gee, too bad then...
